Little Women The Musical (Joe March)

I’m currently rehearsing to play Jo March in Little Women the Musical at my high school. I’ve already learned so much from this production. Although I’ve been a lead in a musical once before, this has been a totally different experience. Learning new music and developing my character have been challenging, but seeing how a scene comes together and sharing the impactful message of the story has made this process both fulfilling and so much fun.

HADESTOWN THE MUSICAL (WORKER ENSEMBLE)

Hadestown has been my favorite musical since I first listened to it during COVID. I was so excited, and a little nervous, to audition for this show at Stage Coach because it was my first time performing with the company, but the experience was absolutely worth it. This show taught me how important the ensemble is in a production. I learned how my facial expressions and movement can impact the story, especially in a smaller performance space.

MAMMA MIA! (Sophie Sheridan)

Playing Sophie in Mamma Mia! is something I’ll never forget. It was not only my first time playing a lead, but also the first time I truly connected with a character on a personal level. The music and storyline mean so much to me, and getting to perform in my high school’s highest-grossing show is something I’m incredibly proud of. This show helped me find my confidence and pushed me to grow as a performer in so many ways. For example, I learned how to incorporate lifts into choreography, something I had never done before,  which taught me how to trust, rely on, and work with others in a whole new way.

A Christmas Carol (Belle)

Auditioning for this show absolutely terrified me. It was my first time auditioning for a production outside of school, and I had no idea what to expect. I went by myself and auditioned in front of people I had never met before. Although it was scary, I’m so glad I did it! I got to meet and work with so many amazing people. I loved being part of A Christmas Carol with Goose Creek Players, and I learned so much from playing Belle. Performing in a play was outside my comfort zone, and I had to adjust to working with people who were much older than me. I loved learning from the actors and crew around me, and it gave me perspectives I’d never had before.

Alice By Heart
(The Cheshire Cat/Tabitha)

I absolutely loved being in this show. The storyline and music were so different from the shows I’d done before. This was the first time I played a named character, and it helped me rediscover my love for theater. Learning the music was challenging, and I had to collaborate with others during scenes in a way I hadn’t before. This production was also my first time being in a double-cast show, and I learned how to draw inspiration from my counterpart while still making the character my own. It was so much fun seeing how everyone interpreted the story differently and how they brought that into their performances.

The Cappie Awards

The Cappies have been a highlight of my high school experience since freshman year. Last year, I became a Cappies Critic, and I’ve loved visiting other schools and writing reviews of their shows. It’s so much fun debating what aspects of each performance I liked (and didn’t like) with other critics. The Cappies have also given me incredible performance opportunities I’ll never forget, like performing at the Hilton Performing Arts Center my sophomore year with the rest of my high school’s musical cast. Another amazing experience was performing at the Kennedy Center Concert Hall during the 2025 NCA Cappies Gala. I got to audition and rehearse with students from participating schools, and it’s something I’ll never forget.

Arts For All

Arts for All is an organization dedicated to providing access to the arts for everyone, regardless of age, special needs, or ability. I’ve volunteered and been part of the running crew for two of their shows, Seussical and Beauty and the Beast, and it completely changed the way I view theater. I’ve always loved performing, but Arts for All helped me discover a deeper passion. Seeing how theater impacts people who are different from me made me want to continue helping others experience the arts.  I hope to continue to make that change in the future.

Orchestra

I’ve played in my school’s orchestra since sixth grade. Being part of the orchestra has made me a more well-rounded performer in every aspect of my performing life. I’ve made so many friends and gained many experiences through it, and I hope to continue playing in the future.
